The FIFA World Cup is now just seven months away and the latest round of international fixtures will give many players the opportunity to book their seat on the plane to Russia next summer.

Here at Bet Free Bets we take a look at the nations in with a huge chance of lifting the World Cup trophy aloft on July 15th, with odds provided by betting partner, Betfred.

Germany - 5/1

Following on from their 2014 triumph, the bookies' odds suggest that the Germans will once again be the team to beat in Russia.

Many of the squad of three years ago remain with the likes of Manuel Neuer, Mats Hummels, Toni Kroos and Thomas Muller making up the core of the current German side. Their chances have been further boosted by some exciting, younger additions to the squad. Manchester City's Leroy Sane and Joshua Kimmich are set to play a prominent role for Germany next summer.

France - 11/2

There is no doubting that, on paper, France have a squad capable of beating anybody. The problem for manager, Didier Deschamps, is how he keeps his squad happy and how to best tap into the massive potential of so many of his players.

Euro 2016 Golden Boot winner, Antoine Griezmann, is in contention to lead the line again in Russia, but will compete for a starting berth with Arsenal duo Alexandre Lacazette and Olivier Giroud, could there also be a way back for the out-of-favour Karim Benzema.

The wide positions are arguably more competitive with Kylian MbappeOusmane Dembele, Anthony Martial, Nabil Fekir, Kingsley Koman, Thomas Lemar and Dimitri Payet all in contention.

The key to France's success could be in finding a formation that gets the best out of their bottom-less pool of attacking talent and ensuring they perform consistently.

Brazil - 6/1

Many Brazilians are still hurting from their 7-1 demolition to Germany in their own back yard three years ago but there is more than enough talent in the current squad to make up for that huge disappointment suffered in 2014.

Previously, Brazil have been guilty of becoming over-reliant on talisman, Neymar, but the emergence of several world class players means the current crop could be a real force in Russia. Holding midfielder, Casemiro and PSG central defenders Thiago Silva and Marquinhos will provide a solid platform for head coach, Tite, to build from. Premier League fans will be all too familiar with the talents of Gabriel Jesus, Willian as well as Liverpool duo Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

Spain - 7/1

Spain suffered a spectacular fall from grace after dominating world football between 2008 and 2012. The 2010 world champions failed to make it out of their group in 2014, becoming the first defending champions to achieve the unwanted feat and didn't fare much better at last summer's European Championships, losing in the last-16 to Italy.

Since then, the Spanish set-up has been revitalised. Out went manager Vincente del Bosque, replaced by Julen Lopetegui and many of the older generation, including Iker Casillas, Xavi and David Villa followed. The new, younger Spanish team includes some of the hottest prospects in world football, including midfielders Marco Asensio and SauNiguez.

The current side has seen the now-departed Casillas, Xavi and Villa replaced by the younger De Gea, Isco and Morata, whilst Sergio Ramos has taken over the captaincy.

Argentina - 8/1

It now seems inconceivable that next year's World Cup would not include the two-time winners but up until one month ago that was a real possibility. Despite possessing an embarrassment of attacking talent, Argentina struggled throughout qualification and only a Lionel Messi hat-trick in their final qualifier was enough to seal their safe passage to Russia at the expense of Chile.

Given their troubled qualification campaign, backing Argentina to win the FIFA World Cup could be very risky but with a squad that could include Manchester City's new record scorer, Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria, Paulo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain and of course their talisman, Lionel Messi, the Argies will pose a threat to anybody.

Their Achilles heel is undoubtedly in defence. Despite his advancing years, Javier Mascherano still plays a key role for Argentina, Alongside Mascherano is likely to be another Manchester City player, Nicolas Otamendi. Unfortunately, City fans will be all too aware that Otamendi is susceptible to a mistake or two. Manchester United's out-of-favour Sergio Romero will start between the posts with the 30-year old closing in on 100 caps for his country.

Belgium - 14/1

Belgium were, in the opinions of many, dark-horses to win the European Championships last summer but were on the wrong end of a shock 3-1 defeat to Wales. Fast forward two years and the Belgians will once again be tipped to land a first ever major trophy.

The current Belgian squad is packed with stars of the English Premier League. Fans throughout the country will know all about the ability of Kevin de Bruyne, Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku whilst Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertoghen have formed a mean defensive partnership for both club and country.

The Belgian management team will also be familiar to football fans on these shores. Manager, Roberto Martinez and his assistant, Graeme Jones, have worked together at Swansea City, Wigan Athletic and Everton. Martinez's other assistant is Arsenal record scorer, Thierry Henry.

Belgium are the only team to feature in our list not to have won the World Cup before. Their best ever performance came in 1986 where they lost to Argentina in the semi-final to finish fourth.
